Jonathan Keeton studied painting in London and theatre in Paris before becoming a pioneer in digital visual effects for television, films and commercials. Many years later, he returned to his first love of painting wilderness landscapes and night scenes.
Keeton especially enjoys painting nocturnal scenes which portray the solitude that comes with empty streets and dimly lit shops. He begins by taking his own photographs early in the morning when few people are out, so that he can capture the feeling of the moment. "Yes, they are moody. That's what I like about night scenes...that's when the light is most magical."
