Dan Volenec is "continually moved by the strength and beauty of the human spirit". "I aim to communicate visually the complexity of the soul".
This artist's paintings and drawings of women demand our attention. The very size of each portrait makes us stop and take notice. We are drawn into a silent conversation with the subject. The emotional feeling which results is quite powerful.
Volenec drew his first portrait at the age of 8. He later studied art at the University of Wisconsin, at the University of Minnesota and then under the guidance of Stephen Gjertson at the Minneapolis atelier of classical realism.
At first glance the smooth surface of an oil painting by Dan Volenec looks almost photographic with few visible strokes. However, upon further inspection one can see that each painting has been lovingly created using many glazed layers of paint.
Dan Volenec is an exceptionally talented artist whose art is at the beginning stages of being discovered by those who love and appreciate fine art.
