Few artists could duplicate the emotional depth which Steve Hanks achieved in his watercolors. Each painting was meticulously drawn with great attention to detail.
Jurors, galleries and collectors have long recognized the stature of this artist's achievements. During his lifetime he received awards from the National Watercolor Society, the National Academy of Western Art and the National Art For The Parks. He was often invited to participate in the Prix de West show at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. Hanks was consistently named as one of the top ten American artists by U.S. Art Magazine.
Leslie Levy Fine Art is proud to have been one of Steve Hanks' first art galleries. Beginning in the early 1980's, we represented this exceptional artist, sponsoring many one man exhibitions of his beautiful paintings. We were also the original publisher of his posters and limited editions.
"I've tried to be responsible and put positive images out into the world," said Hanks. "I hope that my work brings comfort, pleasure and insight into people's lives." Yes, Steve, your art has touched and brought pleasure to the lives of countless admirers.
