Robert Striffolino is a painter who has spent much of his career bringing his life and art into balance with nature. His enchantment with the Southwest is captured in his luminous, flowing landscapes. Colors are rich and intense, yet are softened by the blurred edges of foliage, fields, water and sky. These rich impressionistic panoramas have a serene and almost spiritual quality.
Striffolino describes the unusual colors which he uses as the very heart of his paintings, weaving the subtle effects of color together in an interplay of light and shadow. He views the landscape as a series of elements which he manipulates until he feels that he is a part of that natural environment. Autumn is his favorite season of the year and he often travels to the Northeast at that time to capture the trees when they are at the height of their Fall colors.
